Sunday Debrief: Red Bull make history at the Hungaroring

Red Bull made history at the Hungaroring as they took the record for the most consecutive wins, with 12 consecutive wins. Verstappen helping the team to make history as he took his 7th consecutive win this season, 33 seconds clear of Lando Norris in P2. Sergio Perez made his return to the, the Mexican driver putting in a strong defensive drive proving his value to the team.

Lewis Hamilton started the race on pole for the first time in 33 races, and 595 days. His 104th pole position start in his career and 9th at the Hungaroring, the most pole positions for a driver at a single circuit. Behind Hamilton, Verstappen lined up in P2 followed by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the McLaren's occupying the second row.
Going into Turn 1, Max Verstappen got the inside line taking the lead as he passes Hamilton. Hamilton dropping down the order into P4 as Piastri with an impressive start from P4 gets ahead of his teammate and Hamilton going into Turn 1, Norris passing Hamilton as the pair go into Turn 3.

Chaos at the back of the grid going into Turn 1, Zhou made contact with the back of the Alphatauri of Tsunoda who made contact with the Alpine of Ocon who took his teammate Gasly out with him. The Alpines unfortunate to get caught in the incident causing both drivers to retire from the race, Gasly retiring on Lap 1 before Ocon retired on Lap. Ricciardo on his debut back with his former team was also affected in the incident as he went wide to avoid a collision, inevitable the Australian driver losing time and falling to the back of the grid. Zhou later received a 5 second time penalty for causing a collision.
Hamilton came into the pits on Lap 17, but losing time as he comes out behind his teammate in P8. The McLarens quick to react with Norris pitting a lap later and Piastri patting a lap after his teammate on Lap 19. Lando losing less time than Hamilton as he re-joined wheel to wheel with the Mercedes, Lando making the move on Hamilton going into Turn 1.
Sargeant was the third driver to retire from the race after a spin in sector 2, the Williams driver who is yet to score his first points this season, become the third retirement on the final lap.
